Project 5:
Assessing Impacts of Enrollment
The Great Recession of 2008 has had many impacts on higher education in the United States, but changes in fertility coincident with this event suggest that the biggest impact of all is yet to come. This change in traditional college-aged student availability may have substantial and lasting impacts on higher education’s sustainability/growth model. The goal of our project is to raise awareness of the impending changes and to initiate campus and, perhaps, conference-wide discussions on how to identify the impacts on an individual university. We, through these discussions, hope to collect thoughts and concerns as well as strategies that would mitigate the issues that could affect Academic Affairs divisions throughout the conference.
